Getting There

Your lakeside getaway is less than 2 hours away from Whitehorse!

The Southern Lakes Resort is the ideal place to unwind a few days to start or conclude your journey through the North.

Come visit us by your own car or book one of our transportation options below.

By Floatplane

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the Yukon from a birds’ eye view. The floatplane, being a traditional mean of transport here in the North, brings you to the Southern Lakes Resort in just 25 Minutes from Whitehorse. Landing at the dock right in front of the Resort will make you feel as if you are stepping on a private island!

Included in your flight is pick-up and drop-off at any downtown hotel, airport, RV or car rental station. Since this is a privately chartered plane, you are free to choose departure time within our check-in hours and according to your flight schedule.

Contact us for larger travel parties, there are several sizes of planes available!

 By Private Shuttle

Don’t worry about taking the drive yourself. Drop off your rental car or RV and let us bring you here! Travel time from Whitehorse by shuttle is approx. 1h40.

Included in the price is pick-up/drop-off at any downtown hotel, airport, RV or car rental station.

Arrival with your own Car/Bike/RV

Travel time from Whitehorse by car is approx. 1h40. The drive takes you along one of the most scenic roads in the Yukon. Pass beautiful lakes like Emarald Lake, the smallest desert on earth, Carcross Desert, and you can enjoy the view of the magnificent Coast Mountains.

 Directions:

Access to Southern Lakes Resort is off Highway 8 between Carcross and Tagish. From Tagish 14 km and from Carcross 18 km there are blue service signs and another large sign just off the turn off. From the highway, the 14 km long Ten Mile Road leads directly to the resort. Please drive carefully – the public gravel road is not always well maintained, all-wheel drive is recommended in appropriate conditions.

Arrive in Whitehorse, Yukon and be taken by shuttle to the Southern Lakes Resort.
Enjoy the scenic drive as you are taken out to the remote Yukon wilderness. Once at the lodge get settled, in the evening you will meet your guides, Michelle Phillips & Marie Claude Leroux, experienced Yukon dog mushers (Bio insert). We will enjoy a relaxing gourmet meal then enjoy a bonfire and wait for the Northern Lights or get a good night sleep and prepare for your adventure.

The next morning join Michelle for yoga as we stretch our body out and greet the day. Enjoy yoga and morning meditation then a hearty delicious breakfast made by chef Bruno.
Travel to Tagish Lake Kennel and meet the canine athletes that are eager to take you out on the trails.
We will learn some mushing skills, enjoy a lunch cooked on the fire then hook up our team and harness the power of the dogs!
Enjoy the peace and beauty then late afternoon return to the Southern Lakes Resort. Have a relaxing dinner and watch for northern lights and let your muscles unwind after a busy day.

Join Michelle for yoga and mediation again, then breakfast and a full day working with the dogs. We will take our teams on long training run, then also learn how to build a wilderness camp, and make a camp for our sled dogs.
Return to the Southern Lakes Resort for time to unwind and enjoy another delicious dinner.
Michelle will share a slideshow and explain about racing the Yukon Quest and Iditarod for the evening.

Our last day will again be spent doing morning yoga and then our last run with the dogs.

Spend another night at the Southern Lakes Resort or have yourself taken to Whitehorse in the afternoon to spend the last night at the Raven Inn.
